Thomas Ingles was the son of another Thomas Ingles, who (along with his mother, Mary Draper Ingles, and older brother) was captured by Shawnee as a child. Thomas, the father, lived with the Shawnee for 17 years, leaving as an adult.
Thomas, the son, lived in Tennesee and Mississippi before moving to Kentucky. Among other things he was a farmer, merchant, Post Master and college trustee. He wrote these notes on his life to be the basis for a memoir. This transcription is of the original notes, which are still in the possession of one of his descendants.
