Lady Georgina Hawthorne has spent the last 12 years preparing for her first season out in London society, and nothing will get in the way of her plan to marry a titled gentleman before anyone discovers the secret she's had to hide almost her entire life. Colin McCrae runs in the social circles of earls and dukes, but knows that as a gentleman without a titleâno matter how much money or shrewd business sense he possessesâhe'll never truly belong to the upper echelon of society life. As the season progresses and Colin and Georgina are thrown together into social situations and adventures, Georgina's secret is in danger of becoming public, ruining her chances of a good match. Once Colin begins to uncover what Georgina is hiding, he doesn't ruin her or write her off as broken; instead, in Colin's assessment, she changes from a superficial husband-hunter to a strong and courageous woman. Now all he has to do is help her see herself that way. Hunter (A Noble Masquerade) does a wonderful job of portraying Georgina's secret and slowly revealing it, and its ramifications, throughout the novel. Readers of Pride and Prejudice and The Selection will enjoy this novel. -

In Hunter's second series Regency (after A Noble Masquerade), Georgina, seemingly obsessed with status and looks, is shooting to fell an earl in her debut London season but meets the unsuitable Colin McRae instead. God has put McRae in the position of saving Georgina from her ambitions before it's too late.

Colin McCrae is ruining Georgina Hawthorne's carefully cultivated plan! Georgina had spent months memorizing Debrett's Peerage (the guide to British aristocracy and etiquette), had assembled a dazzling wardrobe of white designed to make her stand out in a sea of pastel-clad debutants, and had finely honed all of her social skills simply to ensure that she would have her pick of eligible nobleman to wed. So the very idea that Georgina might even consider Colin, a mere mister with a Scotch Irish background, as a suitable suitor is laughable. Although it is true that Colin does have the Midas touch when it comes to business investments, Georgina needs a titled husband. So Colin is simply going to have to get out of her way so Georgina can get on with her plan of finding a proper nobleman to wed. Hunter's nicely nuanced, realistically flawed characters and the book's emotionally compelling plot work brilliantly together to create a soul-satisfying romance that will not only please fans of faith-based fiction but any reader who values impeccably crafted love stories.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2016, American Library Association.)
