To root out the card cheat responsible for her brother's death, Miss Delia Trevor spends her evenings dancing her way through high society balls, and her late nights disguised as a young man gambling her way through London's gaming hells. Then one night, handsome Warren Corry, the Marquess of Knightford, a notorious member of St. George's Club, recognizes her. When he threatens to reveal her secret, she's determined to keep him from ruining her plans, even if it means playing a cat-and-mouse game with the enigmatic rakehell.
Warren knows the danger of her game, and he refuses to watch her lose everything while gaining justice for her late brother. But when she starts to delve beneath his carefully crafted façade, can he keep her at arm's length while still protecting her? Or will their hot desires explode into a love that transcends the secrets of their pasts?

Rogue-about-town Warren Corry, Marquess of Knightford, agrees to his cousin's request to find out quietly if Delia Trevor is being victimized by a fortune hunter. He tracks his quarry to a Covent Garden gaming hell only to find himself sitting across from the mysterious young Welshman whose winning ways have taken the gambling set by storm--and looking into the blue eyes of the cross-dressing Delia. But Delia, discouraging suitors by day and playing the card sharp by night, is on a mission, and she won't let an overprotective marquess get in her way. Lively banter, delicious passion, and a clever twist keep fans on edge in this delectable romp that adds another winner to Jeffries's latest popular series. VERDICT A spirited and unconventional heroine playing a dangerous game of revenge and a responsible hero determined to keep her safe overcome their mutual marriage resistance in a story that series fans are sure to adore. Jeffries lives in Cary, NC.

Delia Trevor knows she is playing a dangerous game, but the stakes are too high for her to even think about folding. Delia won't stop until she finds the cardsharp nobleman who fleeced her brother, Reynold, out of all his money, leading him to take his own life. Now disguised as Jack Jones, Delia has been taking the gaming world by storm while she searches for her quarry, but her plan takes an unexpected detour when she bumps into Warren Corry, Marquess of Knightford, while engaged at a card game at St. George's Club. Warren says he will reveal Delia's scheme to everyone, convinced that somehow this will keep her safe, but Delia is equally convinced that if she just plays her cards right, she can convince the handsome lord to fold his hand and quit the game. With its irresistible combination of witty banter, well-defined characters, and a wonderful surfeit of breathtaking sensuality, the latest in Jeffries' Sinful Suitors series, following The Study of Seduction (2016), is a straight flush.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2016, American Library Association.)
