        Friedrich Frobel is best known as the German educator whose ideas form the foundation of the modern kindergarten, and paper crafts were one of the many activities in his early classrooms. This translated guide brings Taubner's (Floragami) geometric creations to English-speaking crafters. The book is organized by basic shape (stars, crosses, spheres, and Frobel stars, which feature a combination of weaving and folding), and the techniques and diagrams used are similar to other traditions of paper folding, such as origami. A simple rating of beginner/intermediate/advanced is provided for each of the stars, and the majority fall into the intermediate-to-advanced categories, with a few simpler stars and foundational projects for beginners. Taubner provides ideas for using the paper stars as components of a larger project, such as an embellished garland or a mobile, giving paper crafters exciting display options for their creations. VERDICT Paper crafters looking for unique ways to display their favorite pattern papers and show off their folding skills will enjoy Taubner's latest guide.
