Narrator Samuel Roukin expertly runs the gamut of emotions narrating wildlife photographer James Aldred's memoir of climbing trees for a living. In exchange for wielding a camera for the BBC and National Geographic, Aldred communes with monkeys, takes in the view, and builds tree houses. Roukin conveys Aldred's awe at these gigantic trees and the magic of the wildlife, as well as his fear concerning their future existence. But Aldred's life is chock-full of dangers more worrying than whether he might drop David Attenborough from a great height. Roukin fully inhabits Aldred's fear when he's attacked by bees and a harpy eagle, chased by a bull elephant, and riding out a massive thunderstorm. Prepare to cringe when bot flies burrowed below his skin are pulled out one by one. A.B. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award © AudioFile 2018, Portland, Maine
